Being Strong

and no I don't mean pumping weights. People have commented to us how strong we are in our dealing with Baby Jacks passing. Strong? What makes us Strong? We don't feel we're any different that anyone else. It's true we don't show much emotion in public, so maybe they're not seeing the teary eyed side. We do talk about Baby Jack allot. The cemetary is a little over a mile away, and we wave and say Hi to him everytime we drive by. We do have faith that someday we'll see him again. We also take comfort in a number of songs that have touched our hearts.

Here's the first verse of "What Faith can do" by Kutless
Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes and make a new beginning
Anyone can feel the ache
You think it’s more than you can take
But you're stronger, stronger than you know
Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
You gotta face the clouds
To find the silver lining

We sang the song "I will Rise" by Chris Tomlin

There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say "It is well"

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

[Chorus:]
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

A friend sang the song "Homesick" by Mercy Me
We liked every line and word on that song, so instead of posting the lyrics,
scroll down and it's on the music player and click on it and it should play.

There is one line from Homesick that fits in here though
"Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow"

We believe that someday we'll see him and believe that our Faith in God has gave us the "Strength" to brave the "Storm"

  1. Love all the songs you mentioned, especially homesick. It really explains how I feel most days. Have you heard With Hope by Steven Curtis Chapman? That is a really good one too.

  3. I think that anyone that has to go through this has found a new strength. I do not feel like I am carrying around some super human strength but have been blessed with strength from God and a stronger faith by learning to lean on him.
I love those songs, it's amazing how songs can really speak to you and help those tough times.

  4. I have heard the phrase "God only gives us what we can handle." I prefer the version "God only gives us what HE can handle."

We people comment on our strength it has helped me to say, "I am glad you can see our Lord's strength at work in us!"

Thinking of you, praying for you...

  6. Heard that before and I've said that it isn't my strength at all that gets me through anything, but God.
